After reading this excellent article, I am even more excited about seeing everyone at NTLS. The opportunity to share the ideas is always welcome; however, the way the days have been structured will take us further than just talking. As always, I expect that we will leave NTLS with further understanding of the issues, deeper questions we want to investigate, and some action items. My hope is that we help set an ambitious plan to share these ideas and thoughts.

See you all soon, Lynne Schrum

Colleagues,

As chair of the AACTE Innovation and Technology Committee, I am thrilled about our collaboration with SITE and our participation in the NTLS. The forthcoming Handbook of Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge for Educators will be a welcome volume for researchers, practitioners, and policy makers as we work together towards the successful integration of multiple techlologies in teacher education. I look forward to the NTLS in early October and expanding our partnership. Together, we can attack the wicked problem that has been so beautifully described by the work of Mishra and Koehler and others. See you in October.

Greetings from Williamsburg, VA!

If you haven't yet had a chance to check out the CITE Journal editorial mentioned above, please do so! I think that it will help us in great measure to jump-start our TPCK-framed, interconnected work at NTLS IX.

And, if you haven't yet had a chance to read Punya & Matt's seminal article about the TPCK framework, it's also highly recommended (and helpful!) reading to do before we see each other on October 4th & 5th.

The agenda looks ambitious, but *most* exciting! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone then.

Greetings everyone,

NTLS IX looks to be as exciting as any we've seen before!

(Well... except maybe for the one during the hurricane!;)

I want to extend a special request to everyone to take the time during Oct. 4-5 to say hello to our guests from IES (Ed Metz), NSF (Sylvia James) and the NSF Information Technology Experiences for Teachers and Students (ITEST) Learning Resources Center (Leslie Goodyear). These agencies work with initiatives near and dear to NTLS and SITE in particular.

See you all in a few days!

The TPCK strand planning committee (Matt Koehler, Punya Mishra, Judi Harris and I have been creating a plan for the work of our group. Our goals and products include:

Goal: the purpose of this strand is to provide leadership for future practice, research, development and dissemination initiatives on TPCK for technology integration

Products: Participants in this strand will create the following products at NTLI:
-	An elevator description of TPCK designed for legislators, policy makers, and teachers
-	A description of what is and what is NOT TPCK, including specific examples
-	Recommendations for strategies for developing TPCK for both pre-service and in-service teachers
-	Recommendations for future research
-	A description of a research program, fundable by IES, designed to examine questions about the nature, development and effectiveness (re: technology integration) of TPCK
-	Strategies for dissemination of TPCK related research and development, through editorials, conferences, TPCK wiki, etc., to different audiences (teachers, teacher educators, administrators, technology coordinators, policy makers, legislators etc.)

We welcome yur suggestions!

Friends, We are quite excited about this upcoming NTLS IX meeting and look forward to productive discussions about the three strands (TPCK, digital video & policy and practice) both during the meeting and beyond. The editorial (linked above) offers an overview of the key topics and this blog can be a space to begin this conversation. We look forward to hearing from you. Thanks
