Greetings!

I wonder if people would like to begin thinking aloud about SITE 2008 in terms of the games and simulations theme.

Dr. Baek of KNUE (Korea) and I have proposed a new book on digital simulations that are aimed at improving teaching (in case any of you have projects, research or writings in this area and would like to join in).

I would like to organize another international panel on that topic, if anyone is interested.

Also, EDC, the technical assistance group for the ITEST projects, is organizing an AERA panel on “the new learner.” The idea here is to talk about what we are seeing as projects working with K12 students today, about their working styles, knowledge of technology and how games and sims fit into their lives.

Mathematica has a new dynamic data-generating sim capability and a demo site, for people internested in finding and using good sim-tools.

What other ideas do you have for sessions involving games and simulations?

I have just sent a niece off to Tanzania. When I made my first trip to Southern Africa, to Namibia I was struck by several people in the audience that looked just like her.When you only know Africa from the National Geographic, and from the depictions in the press you can have some very wrong ideas about the cultures, the countries and people in general.
